CULLY PAYNE RE-OPENS RECRUITMENT

In the new craze of early commitments, here is another example of how they are not always the wisest move on either party. Cully Payne was the first to commit to Jerry Wainwright once he took over the DePaul program. The only problem, Cully had not even began high school at the time. While Payne is still a very solid floor general, his game might not have developed to the point where he would be considered a big contributor at DePaul. The Schaumburg Guard Backs Out of DePaul Commitment (Daily Herald) in a decision reached mutually by Wainwright and the Payne family.

Cully Payne averaged 17 points and 5 assists a game as a junior for Schaumburg. He played two seasons previously at Burlington Central High School.
